Question: why don't you tape your paper down? Are you using watercolor or acrylics? I love her hands and that little patch of light on her shoulder. Again, thanks for sharing.

Sometimes I do but rarely. I spray the back of the piece with water and flatten before sleep sometimes so I don't have to work around the buckling of the paper. I stopped stretching my paper because it eats up too much usable area. And because I ripped a painting once taking out staples. In the end it gets flattened and is fine for showing.

do you do anything aside from spray the back with water to prepare before working on it?

I spray the back with water after it starts to buckle to flatten it between painting sessions and one last time when it's completely finished. Prior to starting the paper doesn't need preparing.
