???
I found this sketch of what seems to be a larger than normal(tmi?)siznack and a headless shaft. The only thing is I totally did NOT draw this! Could the owner of this drawing of my...of this penis please step forward? Ooops, I just realized that I forgot to straighten out the drawing and the penis is pointing to the left....it happens:/

Mondays are good
Had a productive Monday. I usually do. Sometimes it's so hard to get motivated and stick with a painting if the deadline isn't in a week or worse the next day. I'm trying to figure out why I have good days and bad days. I'm accumulating a bunch of tips for myself. Any other tips for motivation are totally welcome(not including coffee, got that one down pat;)

Good News Bad News...
Bad news first........I missed my sketch a day last night while drinking and celebrating my Jack Gaughan Award for Best Emerging Artist of 2008! ^_^ Thanks to Jack Gaughan and for those who've keep his artistic spirit alive over all these years. It is such an honor.

It's super winder here in Columbus tonight. And this popped into my head on the way home from CCAD(i've been painting there recently for any students interested) . I think i might just do a little study tomorrow and not "think" too much about what I'm sketching. It's kinda like medicine. I know it's good for me but I'm fighting it tooph and nail :/

5 ways not to introduce yourself to an Art Director...
I saw this on Irene Gallo's blog and thought it was worth reposting.
Five Ways Not to Introduce Yourself to an Art Director:
1) Don't give me your postcard and then take it back to cross out your web address because "the work there isn't good."
2) Don't let me flip through half a portfolio and then stop me mid way to say "the rest is older work, you're probably not interested, and it's not good anyway."
3) Don't show me one, and only one, image on an iPhone. In fact, unless you know I am very familiar with your work, don't show me an iPhone portfolio at all.
4) "Hello, my name is.....We're MySpace friends." Followed by silence thinking I'm going to remember you off the top of my head. Hell, I can hardly remember the names of people I actually meet.
5) 35mm slides!? I didn't think you could buy slide film anymore.
Guys, you’re at ComicCon. Chances of running into an art director are, well, high. You didn't just happen to run into the ADs for every major gaming, comic, movie, and publishing companies at a neighborhood barbecue, so get your ducks in a row before making that first impression.

Ok, here's my first sketch. And because the porn thing didn't quite pan out I now get my exhibitionism kick by whoring myself out on youtube....and it's kinda fun. see video here. I gave myself a half hour limit. You can see me just staring at the paper....waiting for something , anything to pop up. Be creative damn you!!! At the end of my sketch I got a random flashback from Science Friday on NPR talkin about the physics of jets. and added that to the sketch. For a glimpse at my failed attempt(to help pay for art school or course) into the adult industry poke here

Sketch A Day!!!
Fellow Artists Thom Glick has invited me to do a Sketch A Day for 2009. I'm getting a late start but after seeing everyone else's sketches I was totally inspired... And scared. My definition of sketch is a little more...how do I say? Shitty :/ I'll be posting my sketch later today. I'm also going to try and be better about posting some progress pics on paintings as I go. Here's what I worked on late last night while listening to the Grammy's.

"Life's Objective" Prints coming!
I'm working with A Paper Tiger to make some limited edition prints. I received some AP's for the upcoming print. Really excited! It looks great! It's going to be an edition of 25 at $100 each. Signed and numbered. Would anybody be interested in this print? If so contact A Paper Tiger. Any suggestions to a fave you'd like to see as a print? Your opinions are welcome:)

New Youtube Video
I'm excited about a piece I was invited to do for a very cool themed show at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA. The theme? Street Fighter! This one is a little more interesting to watch as you can actually see some progress with the drawing. I wanted to put a twist on the character I selected and set him outside of his normal environment. The opening is slated for April 25th. See video here
