progress

Another piece on canvas. I was going to do this in oil so I started an acrylic under painting but I'm liking the way it's going I think I'm going to continue with this in acrylic and maybe save oils for more towards the end of the painting. This is a difficult piece for me to work on but I've had a good day painting over all.

Your lines stay so loose, even when transferred. Seems so simple, but I know that's the hardest part to keep alive. Awesome.

Why would you use oils - is it a permanence thing? Your paintings proceed from a layering in thin washes philosophy which takes it look from the technical method you use with acrylics. What does a final layering of oils achieve - assuming you also use it in thin washes?

Hi Chris, thanks for the question. It's all experimentation and artistic growth. There are advantages to each medium. However, I'm so happy with the acrylics on canvas that I may just take it all the way in acrylics and see how i like it. But without further experimentation I won't know if there's something which is more efficient, looks better, or just feels better than what I'm currently doing. Painting on canvas for example.
